Bal Gram is our flagship project, a residential facility for nurturing disadvantaged children through family-based care, giving them a second home to learn, grow, and dream in.
Key Features
- Children aged 6 to 18 stay together in Bal Sadans, family homes in the village
- Sadan Mothers in each family with older children as siblings
- Household chores and responsibilities shared equally by all children
- Formal education along with skill development opportunities
- Children over 18 years rehabilitated with support for further education, career planning, and accommodation
Our Locations
Bal Gram Campus, Lonavala
The Bal Gram campus is the paragon of our Bal Gram program, spread over 20 acres in the scenic Deccan Hills near Bhushi Dam in Lonavala, Maharashtra. The center started in 1967 with just 5 children and is now a flourishing village with more than a 100 children between the ages of 6 to 18 living in 9 family homes.
Activities
- Physical activities like taekwondo, volleyball, and cricket conducted in 2 playgrounds and 1 gymnasium
- Extra-curricular activities like documentary viewings, picnics, museum visits, and sports
- Medical center and health camps for well-being of children
- Residential quarters for ISC staff members
- Skill development classes conducted for sewing, computers, and music
- Festivals celebrated with cultural activities and special meals
- Movie screenings and festival activities conducted by INS Shivaji
