Antar Bharati Balgram School, Lonavala - Formal Education
Established in 1982, it is the flagship program of Bal Shiksha’s Lonavala chapter. We teach children from KG to 10th standard. While most of our students come from the Bal Gram campus, we also have day scholars from neighbouring villages.
Activities
- Science lab, library, and computer lab to for holistic learning
- Sports activities like taekwondo and volleyball to facilitate physical development
- Extra curricular activities like music and art to encourage positive social and emotional skills
Urban Communities in Pune - Non-Formal Education
ISC has been working with children from marginalized, economically disadvantaged, and the least educated communities residing in the slum settlements of Yerawada. We realised the greatest obstacle for learning for these children was inadequate reading and comprehension skills. Thus, we have been working with local schools to improve the reading skills of children in primary classes.
Activities
- Transforming reading from a chore to an enjoyable activity
- Fun and participative activities to make children look forward to reading
- Pre and post-reading competitive activities to encourage participation
- Resources to help children own a book, aiding their love for reading for themselves
Migrant Communities around Pune - Non-Formal Education
ISC has been working with the children of brick kiln workers in and around Pune for the past 40 years, to ensure the younger generation does not fall into the vicious cycle of exploitative work. Today, we have an outreach of more than 3,000 vulnerable children every year, working towards our vision of a society in which all children can enjoy their rights.
Activities
